Flying high: A new era for the Bristol Flyers
Basketball has taken the UK by storm over the last decade; across the country, seats have been sold out in venues nationally, growing club investment and more events are televised than ever before. The Bristol Flyers, Bristol’s professional basketball team, are no exception.
The Flyer’s owner, Stephen Lansdown, says that it’s not surprising that Bristol has embraced basketball, and the Flyers, with open arms. In a recent video by the club, Stephen explains how the team have enjoyed phenomenal commercial success in their previous season and have registered record attendance at matches. He says, “When you go along to the Flyers, you can't help but enjoy yourself. It's exciting, it’s quick and it’s fast and it’s not too long either.”
RSG were the front of shirt sponsor for over 5 years and we greatly enjoyed watching the team grow during our partnership. It also was a great opportunity for our staff to get involved with training days and attend their matches. Not only have the Flyers continued to forge a great relationship with the public, they’ve also attracted new business sponsors. They now have 24 in total, 10 of which are new.
On our support of the team, Stephen expressed his thanks:
“It’s been tremendous. They’ve been a great supporter of all sport and I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done. They’ve helped build the business case and promoted it; it’s not just what they do in spending terms, it’s what they do in telling the Bristol business public what the benefits are and to get involved. They’ve done a great job and we thank them very much.”
Following their success and growing stature within the Bristol community, a new 4000-capacity venue has been planned for them at Ashton Gate which they will be able to call home in the next few years. This will usher in a new era for the team, bringing more attendees to games and events.
