There is an element of presumption in the notion that the client is the only party to be pleased; candidate's themselves must also be won. Both clients and candidates test the water when recruiting or seeking a new role. It would be naïve to assume that they are not also seeking opportunities elsewhere. They keep their options open, as you expect a smart candidate to do, and it is therefore our job to be their best option."
