Bristol Unsung Hero Awards
On the 22nd March Mike Beesley – CEO, received an Unsung Hero award ‘for charitable commitment to helping young people gain employment’.
The event, held at Mansion house Bristol, saw medals awarded to 21 people who have ‘dedicated their time to charity fundraising, supporting the elderly and young people, promoting the city, supporting their community and tackling issues such as the housing crisis, unemployment and inequality’ – with Mike Beesley awarded for his involvement with our chosen charity partner, The Prince’s Trust.
Lord Mayor Cllr Lesley Alexander presented the awards and said: “It is inspiring to hear about the good work that these selfless individuals have done to support people in need across the city”.
In 2015 Mike became Chairman of The Princes Trust South West Development Committee, this was followed shortly after by us naming The Prince’s Trust our dedicated charity partner in June 2017. Since then we have sponsored the ‘Young Ambassador of the Year’ award in the Bristol leg of the regional awards and subsequently hosted several employability days and fundraisers, including our Halloween themed work day to raise money for the Trust.
‘Mike has been involved in the Prince's Trust for over a decade and in 2015 became chairman of the trust’s South West Development Committee. With his support, the money raised at the trust’s annual fund raising dinner has risen to £200k each year. He has pledged to raise more than £1 million for the Prince's Trust South West, and has also coached its fundraising team. Together with his business partner, Mike set up a recruitment company that regularly holds employment days to help trust members to gain skills and employment through the Prince's Trust.’
