Following student graduation comes the closing date for many of the most popular and sought after graduate schemes in the UK. Over-subscription to these schemes is a yearly occurrence and typically leaves many graduates still job seeking for months after. We pursue hiring graduates for a number of reasons all year round however, with a success rate that we’re happy to share. Here are three of the big reasons why we think grads are a great asset to any business.

Flexibility

Most graduates have studied for a degree which offers a fair amount of flexibility when it comes to the roles they could work in. These individuals are an invaluable source because they have a number of transferable skills but haven’t yet shaped them specifically for a certain industry. Our RSG Academy depends on these very candidates, graduates and non-graduates alike, to join the business with a fresh slate and apply their skills to a role they won’t have tried before. Through careful identification of skills and potential, we find a role and team unique to the individual once they have gone through a series of training activities with us.

Home-grown talent

We don’t simply focus on graduates being able to fill any role, but we also look at the value graduates bring in terms of future leadership. Due to their academic acumen, graduates are easy to train and quick to learn. This means they have a great success rate for progressing quickly within the business and pushing for new ambitious challenges.

New ideas, new perspective

Hiring staff with experience has its benefits, but also its pitfalls. Only when someone is totally new to something can they see processes and systems with a totally fresh perspective. Graduates bring this aspect to the business two-fold. We support an evolutionary approach to business which sees the way we have always done something as subject to change and improvement, most businesses do. So bringing in hires who are able to offer an entirely new ideas and suggestions is a welcome refreshment.
